BOOGIE
Boogie was sired by NGDC/NAGDC/FC/AFC Peter Gunn (Pete). Pete has the added distinction of winning both the NGDC and NAGDC in the same year.
Boogie has been the easiest dog I have ever trained. Working with him primarily on weekends, he was fully broke (wing, shot, and fall) and backing and retrieving to hand by 10 months of age. He required very light correction during training. Boogie is an extremely smart dog, which was reflected in how quickly he picked up his training and also how quickly he figured out the field-trial game. He started running in NSTRA at 13 months, got his first open placement (2nd) at 14 months, and he went on to end his first season by winning the Kentucky Regional Championship at just 20 months of age.
Boogie is also a wild bird hunter. Above is Boogie's first trip to Wisconsin hunting grouse and woodcock, and to the right is one of his first coveys of wild Kentucky quail pointed on public land. He is able to handle both types of cover well and is an all-around excellent bird finder. When hunting, Boogie is unusually thorough in his ground coverage, seeming to leave no stone unturned. He will usually stay within 100-150 yards of the hunter--checking in regularly.
