GRETCHEN
Gretchen was sired by NSTRA HOF Brittany Windswept's Clay Bullet. Clay and his legendary littermate, Nolan's Last Bullet, both became Hall of Fame Brittanys--a very rare occurrence for two puppies from the same litter. To the right is the first page of an article in The Pointing Dog Journal (Volume XVII, Number 2, March/April, 2009) about these two incredible dogs. Clay is pictured. We were very happy when we were able to purchase Gretchen as a pup and include this extraordinary line in our foundation group here at Quail Ridge Brittanys.
Gretchen has been an exciting young dog to develop and train. She is one of the most intense hunters we have had, working extremely hard to find birds, and is staunch when on point. At the same time, she can quickly calm herself when the context changes from looking for birds to relating to people. In other words, Gretchen has a great on/off switch. Her ability to self regulate, along with her high level of intelligence, has made her surprisingly easy to train and handle given her level of bird drive. We are nothing but happy to have Gretchen here with us and plan to have her and her offspring as a part of our kennel for years to come.
